All Saints Estate, Sangiovese Cabernet 2009

Seriously good booze at a very reasonable price. The new generation of Brown family members are making some outstanding wines at All Saints and St Leonards in north-east Victoria and this one particularly took my fancy. The fruit here is ripe but the wine is no more than medium bodied with dark cherry, spice notes and supple tannins combined with some savoury/crispy bacon/dark earth characters. There is a real drinkability factor about this plush wine, which would be great with tapas, pizza or pasta dishes. One for drinking in its relative youth.

Price: $20-22
