Cabernet from Margaret River should really be a no-brainer. There's a distinct character that seems to come from the 'terroir' of the place (gum trees, cows and surf beaches). Knee Deep produce their wines from a single vineyard in the Wilyabrup sub-region, smack bang in the middle of the good stuff in Margaret River.
Serious and complex nose: Mushroom flesh, earth, wet tobacco, black olive, blackberry fruit and cassis. Makes you want to keep sniffing. Blackberry and cassis fruit cruise through the palate with ease, nothing out of place. Tannins are firm yet regiment and marching harmoniously forward. Well framed and elegantly bodied. Just starting to come into its own but with plenty of life left. Top class Cabernet.
