Hanging Rock, Jim Jim Pinot Noir 2012

Classy packaging. Elegant and refined label. Heavy bottle, thick neck, deep punt. Lead foil, DIAM cork. Deceptively Nebbiolo-esque wan colour: cerise and almost clear at the rim.

100% Estate grown fruit First perfume is gunsmoke and pepper. Then hesitant, delicate red fruit with fresh earthy rhubarb tones garnished with delicious bacon fat complexity.

Light cherry and strawberry red fruits with peppered spice. Fine, fine tannins and a noticeable, youthful nervy acidity. Lean, tight almost reticent for the moment, there’s deft winemaking that will prove this wine to be a stayer in the long term.
