Yalumba, The Y Series Viognier 2015

If anybody in Australia can lay claim to being the Viognier stronghold, it's probably Yalumba. For many years, the Virgilius was Australia's preeminent label. This however is at the other end of the price spectrum.

Expressive nose of ripe apricot slices, roasting lemon and nutty spice. Some stereotypical viscosity/oily weight to the palate (reflected by the alcohol that helps the sweetnees too). The apricot flavour carries long, blending white flowered jasmine and a little smokiness. Nice entry level example of the variety.
