Yalumba , The Y Series Shiraz Viognier 2014

Rich and warm smells. Chocolate bars and ripe plums. The Viognier is distinct with it's sweet apricot lift. A little bit of gunsmoke complexity reminds you of the care that goes into these "entry level" wines. Lush palate: Not shirking the Rhone pedigree, the peppery spice melds well with ripe generous lifted fruit. There's all the bits you want from the shiraz: ripe red fruit and the right amount of bitumen savouriness. The viognier reminds you this is something exotic, with lifted spice that haunts after the fruit has gone.
