Hastwell & Lightfoot [McLaren Vale SA], Fiano 2018

The Fiano grape, traditionally a South European variety, has been gradually but emphatically establishing itself Down Under and is finding regional expression and individuality across the various grape-growing areas.
This Fiano from McLaren Vale, crafted by winemaker Richard McGeachy from the Hastwell & Lightfoot team, reflects the generous fruitiness and grip of that region.
Pineapple and nutty / straw flavours lead the charge of mouth-filling sweetish primary fruit experience.
The underlying acid grip and minerality carry the flavours and aromas across the mid-palate to a lingering but clean finish.
A very refreshing wine well-suited to salads and fresh seafood platters.
One to be enjoyed over the holiday period but will also reward a few years cellaring.
