Gartelmann Wines [NSW], Mudgee "Jonathan" Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

This Gartelmann 2015 "Jonathan" Cabernet Sauvignon, from their Mudgee vineyards is one of two recent red blockbuster releases.
It pours with an attractive and enticing garnet hue with a clear meniscus.
Searing eye-watering acid to the fore, both on nose and palate is counterbalanced by brooding cool-climate varietal Cabernet Sauvignon characters.
Red currant, hints of tobacco and mixed spices twirl and entwine around a solid core of brooding textural tannins and Cabernet grunt
The declared, slippery 14.5% Alc adds warmth and length to the palate journey.
Definitely a food wine, our examplar was enjoyed with pan-fried pork chops and fennel / capsicum jam.
This tightly wound Cabernet Sauvignon, already with 4 years of maturity will reward  cellaring as it shows promise of further development.
