Angullong (Orange, NSW), "Fossil Hill" Sangiovese 2018

This 2018 Angullong Sangiovese is one of three Mediterranean varieties released by Ben Crossing and the Angullong Vineyard team, the other two 'Alternative" varieties being a Tempranillo and a Barbera
This traditional Italian grape finds a New World expression reflective of its cool-climate viti and viticultural development in the Mt Canobolas [Orange NSW] region
On immediate breathing, it releases wafts of bitter cherry, mocha and hints of dried herbs.
These are all translated to the palate, accompanied by swirls of ripe vibrant jubey fruit and varietal astringency which adds texture and grip to the vinous experience
This current Sangiovese is a well-rounded, solid and well-priced offering from the always-reliable Angullong team which continues to produce wines of substance and value.
Our bottle admirably complemented a hearty savoury meat loaf and roast vegetables dinner
