Gartelmann Wines [Hunter Valley NSW], 'Diedrich' Shiraz 2016

Jorg and Jan Gartelmann source prime quality grapes in and around the Hunter and regional areas.
This Flagship 'Diedrich' 2016 Shiraz, a tribute to Jorg's grandfather, is sourced from the Orange region [NSW] and reflects its cool-climate terroir.
The Burgundy style bottle and new classily-minimalist label appeals to the conservative [old fashioned?] wine appreciator
However, there is nothing conservative about the wine within.
With already 4 years of development, it delivers an integrated, seductively smooth varietal profile with a subtle savoury amalgamation of mixed herbs, white pepper, blackberries and  mulberries
It is a well-rounded and balanced wine of line, length, style and seamless power.
The finely firm tannins and hefty but unobtrusive 15.2% Alc define the framework to support and carry the ripe fruit to a satisfying long finish without any angularity
Our examplar was enjoyed over 2 nights without any loss of smoothness or power
This premier Gartelmann 'Diedrich' 2016 Shiraz can be enjoyed now but is supercharged of quality attributes to reward a few years of cellaring
