Carillion Wines [Hunter Valley NSW], Origins Fenestella Shiraz 2018

This Shiraz is one of a pair of reds [the other one a Cabernet Sauvignon] released by the Davis' family under the winemaking guidance of Andrew Ling
The Carillion label was established in 2000 in the Hunter Valley but grapes are also sourced from their Orange [NSW] and Wrattonbully [SA] vineyards
This 2018 Carillion Origins Fenestella Shiraz already shows some of the hallmarks and makings of a powerhouse HV Shiraz of substance and heft
Once the initial bottle-funk blew off, it allowed the beast within to awaken and seduce with its power and fulsomeness
There is  nothing shy about this lovely drop.
Fragrant blackberries and currants, smooth but evident French oak subframe, eye-watering acid, crushed-almonds astringent savouriness and glycerol warmth [14% Alc],
swirl, twirl and seduce the taste buds
All the elements of a typical Hunter Valley high-end Shiraz are present in abundance
These varietal traits will integrate on cellaring to deliver a classic Hunter Valley Shiraz of depth and complexity
